Description | A portrait of an 8-year old war orphan. Her parents were shot before her eyes trying to flee their home in Poland to the forests. The child was rescued by Christian nuns who sheltered her in their convent during the war. After liberation, she was turned over to the Polish Jewish Community, which in turn handed her over to the JDC, for emigration to Palestine. | |||
