Description | A group of refugees at the home in which they lived in Kobe. Photo taken (?) at a farewell gathering a day before they left for Palestine. Beginning in 1933, refugees from Germany, Austria, and Lithuania traveled over land via the Trans-Siberian Railroad, to reach Kobe. Around 4,000 people, many of them from various rabbinical groups, were given basic amenities and emigration aid by the JDC. | |||
