Description | Jewish refugees from Hungary, many of whom walked from Budapest to freedom in Austria, on the bus supplied by the JDC to take them to Salzburg, where the JDC will house and feed them, eventually helping them to emigrate. The 1956 Hungarian Revolution compelled some 18,000 Hungarian Jews to cross into Austria, where around 11,000 of them sought JDC assistance while they waited to emigrate. | |||
