Description | Samuel Herskovitz is a professional photographer in this Norwegian Community, shown here changing lenses on his camera. He immigrated and settled here under a special plan sponsored by the JDC and the Norwegian Government, which allowed post TB refugees to settle permanently. Herekovitz spent years of his early life in a Nazi concentration camp in his native Hungary; after the war, without a single member of his family left alive, he went to Germany where he was placed in a TB sanitarium. Years of care followed before recovery came. Once cured, he pursued his photography in the AJDC rehabilitation program. | |||
