Description | Chaim Leitner in the doorway of the resettlement housing provided by the Norwegian Government. Chaim's mother suffered from TB, which she contracted while imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp. Chaim himself also became victim to tuberculosis. After both recovered in a JDC sanatorium, the Leitner family emigrated to Norway from the DP Camp Foehrenwald. Norway was one of the few countries to accept TB patients and their families, under a special agreement between the Norwegian government and JDC. | |||
