Description | A former warehouse once used to store arms for the Nazi army, now serves as a JDC sponsored ORT schoolhouse. This camp, the last Jewish DP camp in Germany, was built to house IG Farben workers of a subterranean arms factory and partially housed forced laborers as a subcamp of Dachau concentration camp during WW2. In June, 1945, the US Army converted it into a DP camp for Jews. Residents lived in small but solid, centrally heated homes that had been evacuated by their German inhabitants. | |||
