Description | A choral group of Jewish orphans rehearse the songs they will sing during the Rosh Hashonah ceremonies which usher in the Jewish New Year, before the Grand Rabbi of France, Isaie Schwartz, in their home in Jouy-en-Josas, which is supported by the JDC. The Star of David bearing the title "Exodus 47" has a particular meaning for these orphans, for 10 of the boys aboard the ill fated expedition came from this home. Those orphans who went on the "Exodus" sent back messages to those who remained by putting their letters into the JDC ration boxes and throwing the boxes in to the Mediterranean at Port de Bouc, near Marseilles, where they were picked up by French officials and forwarded to Jouy-en-Josas. | |||
