Description | A pipe runs along the side of a road in Sosua, Dominican Republic, supplying water to Jewish refugees who have turned a 26,000 acre tract into a colony. The colonists used 150,000 pounds of pipes and supplies of plumbing equipment form the US to bring water to settler's homes. Jewish settlers came to the Dominican Republic after the 1938 invitation of Rafael Trujillo, the country's strongman. | |||
