Description | Josef Dunner; (1913-2007); 1937 he was appointed Chief Rabbi of East Prussia, serving in Konigsburg. He was arrested during the Kristallnach pogrom, but the Nazi's were prevented from sending him to Dachau, as it required a land transport through Poland, which refused to allow access to its teritory for the transport of political prisoners. His wife arranged with Rabbi Solomon Schonfeld in London to obtain a rare Rabbi's visa for him and his family. He became Rabbi of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations in London from 1960-2007 | |||
