Description | The Jewish quarter is a primitive place where even wool thread is manufactured on a loom by hand. The price is not expensive however, because the wages of this Jewish craftsman are meager. The majority of Jews living and working under such outmoded conditions are reduced to a pitiful state. The AJDC, through its support of health, welfare and education programs, has done much to alleviate these conditions in the North African Jewish quarters. | |||
